Abstract
The purpose of this study was to describe the difficulties faced by low-grade students in listening and writing activities in Indonesian language learning in elementary schools. This research design is a literature study with a qualitative approach. The data collection technique is in the form of documentation study and literature study. The validity of the data was tested by increasing the persistence in the study. The analysis technique uses content analysis techniques. The results showed that, (1) the difficulties faced by low-grade students in listening activities in Indonesian language learning included: (a) difficulty focusing on listening to learning from the teacher, (b) difficulty understanding and answering questions about the contents of the tales that were listened to, and identify intrinsic elements of the story, (c) difficulty remembering and retelling orally the contents of the tale that is being listened to, (d) difficulty understanding and answering questions about the content of the story being listened to. Furthermore, (2) the difficulties faced by low-grade students in writing activities in Indonesian language learning include: (a) difficulty memorizing and distinguishing the shape and size of loose letters, (b) the advantages and disadvantages of the number of loose letters written, (c) difficulties arranging and completing letters, syllables, words, and sentences according to the pattern, (d) difficulty in writing loose, neat, and clean letters, (e) difficulty in writing cursive letters correctly based on shape, size, letter completeness, writing spacing , and row (f) difficulty writing cursive letters neatly and cleanly, (g) difficulty writing capital letters and punctuation correctly, (h) difficulty finding ideas, combining, and organizing sentences in writing essays, (i) difficulty writing back in the fairy tales and stories that are listened to.
