Abstract
Background: Stress and anxiety plays an important role in the causes of bruxism. Caused by physical and psychological factors. Physical factors because of contact occlusion or traumatic occlusion to high filling. Psychological factors are caused by conditions of anxiety, frustration, and stress. Stress and anxiety are more often seen as the etiology of bruxism. The occurence stress, the body releases a surge of adrenaline and cortisol, two chemicals known to increase heart rate, pump blood pressure and increase energy. The intense changes can cause excessive muscle tension in the jaw muscle, and bruxism. The Purpose: to tell relationship between stress levels and bruxism during the Covid-19 pandemic in UMS dentistry students. The Method: This study used observati onal analytic cross sectional study approach. Sample used 15 students, consist of the bruxism 10 students (stress as many 8 people, and students moderate stress and easy stress each were 1 person). There were 5 students not experience bruxism (consisting of 4 people experiencing easy stress and 1 person moderate stress). The data collection method using a questionnaire in the form of google form. Analysis of the data processed with contingency coefficient test. The Results: Based of the coeffisien contingensi test p value 0,010, and coeffisien contingensi grade 0,616 Conclusion: Based on the value (p value) 0.010 <0.05, which means that there is a relationship between the level of stress and the incidence of bruxism in undergraduate students of dentistry during the Covid-19 pandemic. The contingency coefficient value is 0.616 (0.60-0.799), which means that the relationship is strong.
