Abstract

Parents, especially mothers who have children with special needs, generally tend to hide their children. However, at the Sanggar Inklusi, mothers and their children with special needs join in to participate in the activities and services there.The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between gratitude for self-acceptance of mothers and children with special needs. The hypothesis proposed in this research is that there is a positive relationship between gratitude and self-acceptance of mothers with children with special needs. Research respondents were mothers of children with special needs who joined in 3 Sanggar Inkluisi Kabupaten Sukoharjo that were selected using cluster sampling technique. Retrieval of data using research instruments consisting of a scale of gratitude and self-acceptance scale. Data analysis used in data processing is product moment analysis with SPSS 16.0. The results showed the value of rxy = 0.903 with p = 0.000 (p <0.01) which means that there is a very significant positive relationship between gratitude and self-acceptance. The correlation coefficient value is positive, so it can be concluded that the higher the gratitude, the higher the self-acceptance of mothers with children with special needs.
