Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between democratic parenting styles and the psychomotor development of toddlers. In this study, democratic parenting style is one of the factors that can affect the psychomotor development of toddlers. To achieve success in the psychomotor development of toddlers, a positive democratic parenting style is needed. The research method used is a quantitative method with a measure of democratic parenting style with a reliability of α = 0.936 and a psychomotor growth scale of α = 0.937. Data collection using googleform with probability random sampling technique to 104 respondents with the criteria of mothers who have children aged 3-5 years in Surakarta Karisidenan. Data analysis was performed using non-parametric correlation analysis Spearman Rho with the help of SPSS for windows version 2.3. Based on the results of the analysis between the variables of democratic parenting style and psychomotor growth and development, the correlation value (r) = 0.294 and (p) = 0.002 (p <0.05) means that there is a very significant positive relationship between democratic parenting styles and psychomotor growth and development. From the results that have been obtained, it can be concluded that the minor hypothesis (Ha) of the researcher can be accepted.
