Abstract
The purpose of this study is to describe the steps of community empowerment, its contributions, and community empowerment models in improving school quality through school-based management in Darul Arqom Muhammadiyah Middle School Karanganyar. This research uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological research design. The subjects of the study are the principal, teachers and parents of students of the Darul Arqom Muhammadiyah Middle School Karanganyar. Data collection methods are in-depth interviews, observation and documentation, while data analysis technique uses interactive analysis. The results of the study (1) Steps for Community Empowerment in Improving School Quality through School Based Management in Darul Arqom Muhammadiyah Junior High School Karanganyar are carried out by (a) Equalizing perception and goals, carried out by holding meetings or discussions between the school and parents of students, (b) socializing program, stages and results of school program socialization, including: 1) to continuosly establish good communication with parents of students, 2) to regularly report all school activities to the parents of students, as a form of monitoring by the community, 3) to regularly have meeting between homeroom teacher with the parents of students, 4) to have educational scholarships for underprivileged students available. (2) Contributions of Community Empowerment in Academic Quality Improvement (input, process and output) Schools Through School Based Management in Darul Arqom Muhammadiyah Junior High School Karanganyar are grouped into (a) financial contribution to schools, namely: the funding of educational visits, funding of the school park construction, the funding of market day, the funding to support the finance of underprivileged students, the funding to increase student ability output, (b) contributions of school infrastructure, namely: transportation facilities, books facilities that can support the learning process, neatness facilities such as shoe racks, garden construction, (3) Community Empowerment Model in Improving School Quality Through School-Based Management in Darul Arqom Muhammadiyah Junior High School Karanganyar is conducted by (a) the institutional model between the school and the school committee, (b) the communication model, school visit by parents or home visit by teachers, the meetings of school programs socialization.
