Abstract
The purpose of this study was to identify the strategies used by eleventh grade students in developing speaking skills at SMK Batik 2 Surakarta and describing the implementation of strategies in developing students' speaking skills at SMK Batik 2 Surakarta. The object of this study is the learning strategy used by eleventh grade students in developing speaking skills at SMK Batik 2 Surakarta, especially in class XI Multimedia. The data in this study contain information about the learning strategies used by eleventh grade students in developing speaking skills. The validity of the data in this study uses trustworthiness. The results of this study indicate that the Language Learning Strategy by O'Malley's Taxonomy used by students in the learning process of speaking is Metacognitive strategies. The metacognitive learning strategies implemented include: self- management, self-monitoring, delayed production, and self-evaluation. In applying the Language Learning Strategy by O'Malley's Taxonomy, students listen to and understand English songs. The first song in a slow tempo by Westlife entitle "I have a dream" and the second song on Allegro or Fast Tempo by Megan Trainor entitle "Better when I am dancing".
