Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe ; (1) intrinsic elements in the Sang Nyai 1 novel by Budi Sardjono ; (2) forms of the myth of the south coast ruler in the Sang Nyai 1 novel by Budi Sardjono. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. Data in the result are in the form word, sentence, and paragraph, in the data source is Sang Nyai 1 novels. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out with literature and note taking techniques. Data analysis The novel is analyzed by reading heuristics and hermeneutics. Mythical form analysis using the hermeneutic method. This research uses theory triangulation. Theory triangulation is used to check back with existing related related theories. The result of this study are (1) intrinsic elements that build in the Sang Nyai novel include ; (a) theme in the novel about the power of Nyai Roro Kidul in the area of Yogyakarta ; (b) characterizations there are 13 characters with 1 main character and 12 additional characters ; (c) the plot in the novel progresses starting from the initial stages, conflict and resolution ; (d) time is 2 weeks, setting social background includes the beliefs of people around Yogyakarta against the myth of Nyai Roro Kidul, the point of view in the novel is the first person or me, defamiliaried language style. (2) Mythical forms in the novel Sang Nyai 1 include; (a) myth in the form of figures Kesi and Kang Petruk , (b) myth in the form of grooves includes Samhudi meeting with Kang Petruk, (c) myth in the form background include places believed to be the gate to meet with Nyai Roro Kidul for example Parangkusumo, selo gilang and Panggung Sanggabuwana, (d) myth in the form of ritual is labuhan jaladri and puasa ngableng.(e) a myth in the form of Nyai Roro Kidul’ power.
