Abstract

Implementation is a process of applying ideas, concepts, policies or innovations in a practical action so as to have an impact in the form of knowledge, skills, and values and attitudes. Religious character education is the process of transforming religious values to be developed in one's personality so that they become one in the behavior of that person's life. Religion has a very important role in the life of mankind. Religion becomes a guide in the effort to create a meaningful, peaceful and dignified life, and becomes a very important thing owned by every individual who can guide life. Therefore the implementation of religious character education has a very important position in education. This study aims to describe the implementation of religious character education in Islamic religious education in class VII A students at SMP Negeri 2 Colomadu Karanganyar. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study. Research subjects are teachers and students. The study was conducted in March 2020 Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation and then the data were analyzed using the Milles and Huberman model. namely data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the implementation of religious character education in students of SMP Negeri 2 Colomadu was through a personal development program consisting of routine activities in class including (daily, weekly, and annual routine activities), spontaneous activities carried out by teachers to students, exemplary given the teacher, and the conditioning of the school created in such a way. Then the implementation through Islamic religious education subjects and general subjects. Furthermore, through the school culture which consists of culture in the classroom, school, and outside school.
