Abstract

Parents have a big role in influencing children. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of parents in instilling multicultural values in millennial generation kindergarten children. This research uses descriptive qualitative. Research informants numbered 3 pairs of parents or 6 fathers and mothers. Data collection uses interviews and documentation. The results showed that parents teach by instilling multicultural values namely respect, respect, tolerance. Children are also given learning to accept and meet differences from people around without differentiating in terms of social status, skin type, gender and religion. The cultivation of multicultural values taught by parents is done through gadgets by watching youtube videos, tv and playing games. Not only through digital, children are also introduced by looking at the surrounding environment which illustrates that children must also have empathy in the social environment, this is done through visual and social learning as teaching materials for parents. Seeing traditional clothes from various regions, giving an understanding of differences in sex and skin type, finding the symbol of God in a neighbor's house which means that everyone has a different religion, see people with social status who have shortcomings in clothing and physical. The most striking thing about the aplication of both parents is that the faher places more emphasis on the value of respect and respect while the mother puts more emphasis on the value of tolerance for culture, religion, against differences in skin or sex.
