Abstract

School is one of the important things to shape the character of the child to be superior, and the school also has an obligation to shape future generations who are skilled in speaking Indonesian well, politely and correctly. But the fact that there is still a number of students who have not used the principle of politeness in interacting. In this regard, this study tries to analyze the types of deviations in politeness in language that occur in interactions during discussions. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method and data analysis using the equivalent method. The results showed that the number of deviations in the politeness principle of language in discussion activities was not very large. This is indicated by the results of research that have been obtained, namely the deviation of the principle of politeness in language in class VII C discussion of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta, there are 16 deviations data. The data contained in the deviations of politeness in language consists of six maxims, including the maxim of wisdom, generosity, simplicity, sympathy, consensus and appreciation. The deviations of the politeness principle of speaking in class VII C discussion activities at SMP 2 Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta in the form of deviations of one maxim, two maxims, and three maxims at once in one speech.
