Abstract
The final finishing stage in the wood furniture industry uses various types of chemicals that can cause skin diseases in workers. The results of a preliminary survey of 30 workers in the furniture industry in Ngemplak Boyolali Subdistrict, as many as 52.8% complained of itching on the skin, 40% complained of dry and cracked skin. Complaints of skin disease that most suffered by workers namely skin inflammation marked by taste itching in the form of thickening / reddish nodules, multiple clustered or spread, sometimes scaly, or runny. Furniture industry workers if they do not have good personal hygiene can lead to mold viral, parasitic infections, skin disorders, and other complaints. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between personal hygiene with complaints of skin disease. This type of research uses observational research with cross sectional design. The population and sample in this study were all furniture industry workers in Ngemplak District, Boyolali Regency. The entire population was taken as a sample. The collection technique uses a questionnaire. Data analysis techniques used the Fisher Exact test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between personal hygiene with complaints of skin disease in furniture industry workers in Ngemplak Boyolali with p-value (p) = 0.004 <0.05. Workers with good personal hygiene tend to have no skin complaints. Conversely, workers with poor personal hygiene tend to have complaints of skin disease.
