Abstract

Incidence of cyber harassment from time to time shows an increase. The rise of cyber abuse on children and adolescents is apprehensive to many parties. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self-esteem, peer support, and parental communication of children against cyber abuse in adolescents. The hypothesis in this study is self-esteem, peer support and parental communication correlate with cyber abuse behavior. This study involved 200 junior high school students taken using cluster random sampling techniques. The characteristics in this study are students of Colomadu Middle School 3 and SMP Angkasa who have social media and the age range is around 13-15 years. The analysis used is linear regression analysis. The instrument used in this study was a scale. Effective contribution to variables of self-esteem, peer support, and parents' communication to cyber abuse behavior is 51.9%. Peer support makes the most contribution, followed by self-esteem, and parent-cphild communication.
