Abstract

This research aimed to 1) developing instructional media of vulcanic eruption learning video in SMP N 2 Nogosari. 2) knowing the effectiveness before and after using learning videos. The study was a Research and Development which uses 4D model (Define, Design, Development, Dissemination). The media was made by using Adobe After Effect. The design of the research used Control Group Pretest –Posttest. The subjects of this research were students and teacher of Sosial Science in 7th grade of SMP N 2 Nogosari. In analyzing the data, the research used some techniques which were validity test, reliability test, normality test, and hyphotesis test. The result of the research showed that 1) based on the assessment of material experts and media experts, the learning video average value of 4.75 with category of "Very Good". 2) There were the differences in the learning outcomes in the experiment class by using animated video as the instructinal media it showed the pretest average score was 54,6 and the posttest average score was 79. while in the control class without using media get an average score pretest 73,4 and the posttest average score 76,2. Results of the T test data of the control class and experimental class showed the significance value 0,00 < 0,05 so HO is rejected and HI is accepted. Improved learning outcomes in the control class of 3,6 % and experiment class 54%. The increase in learning outcomes in the experimental class was higher than in that control class, so that the use of video for learning volcano eruption material was effective.
