Abstract
The major problem of the research on Insomnia movie is how major character’s anxiety is reflected in Insomnia movie. Meanwhile, this problem is limited on the major character Willy Dormer viewed by psychoanalytic approach. The objective of the study is to analyze movie based on the structural elements and the personality of the major character based on psychoanalytic approach. The benefit of the study is to give additional information that can be used by the other literature researches who are interested in analyzing this movie. In conducting this study, the researcher uses qualitative research in which the data are based on primary data, the script of Insomnia movie. While secondary data are taken from other sources, which relate to primary data, such as the transcription of the movie, the website from the internet about Insomnia movie and other resources that support the analysis. In analyzing the data, the writer applies two analysis, they are structural analysis and the psychoanalytic analysis. Structural analysis is used to analyze the elements of the movie. While, the psychoanalytic analysis is used to analyze the anxiety which appears in Willy Dormer personality. The results of the analysis show that: 1) based on the structural analysis, each of elements are interrelated to each other and form unity, 2) based on the psychoanalytic approach , it is evident that Willy Dormer as a major character in Insomnia movie has anxiety and it can be seen from the characteristics which appears in his behavior.
