Abstract
One method for forming the metal is spinning process. Spinning process is the process of formation ring-shaped metal plate with plate rotate at high speed and pressurized using roller regularly, so that the shape will follow the shape of the mold (mandrel). The aim of the research was to determine the effect of plate thickness variation on spinning process to the surface roughness and thickness change in the end of the result. This study was conducted using an aluminum plate material processed using metal spinning. The research process was done by varying the thickness plate 1 mm, 1.2 mm and 1.4 mm. Surface roughness testing using test equipment roughness (Surface Roughness Tester TR200 type with ISO standards). Thickness testing using a (Micrometer Screw Digital). The best surface roughness research results were produced on the use of 1 mm plate thickness that part 1 is 0.842 µm, in part 2 is 0.614 µm, and in section 3 is 0.475 µm. The thickness measurement results show that the greatest thickness change uses a plate thickness is 1 mm and the smallest thickness change uses a plate thickness of 1.4 mm.
