Abstract

This study aims to describe the planting of various characters in children in the Muhammadiyah Orphanage in Surakarta City. This type of research uses qualitative. The subjects of this study were the management and children of the orphanage. Data collection techniques used were interviews, observation, and documentation. The validity of the data in this study uses triangulation of techniques and data sources. Data analysis in this study uses an interactive model. The results of the study showed the form of planting various characters in children in the Surakarta City Orphan Orphanage including religious characters, responsibilities, independence, honesty, discipline, hard work, caring for the environment, fond of reading, democratic, national spirit, love of the motherland, and tolerance. Obstacles in planting various characters in children in the Surakarta City Orphan Orphanage including many children, differences in age, family factors, and children are difficult to advise. The solution to the constraints in planting various characters in children in the Surakarta City Orphan Orphanage is being returned to parents, cooperating with psychological institutions, consulting with social services, must be constantly reminded, and patient. The above conclusion implies that the form of planting various characters in children can be done through various activities or activities. The activity must be followed by all children by paying attention to differences in the age of each, so that they can really instill various characters in them effectively.
