Abstract

Introduction: Empathy is a person's ability where someone understands the feelings and emotions of others, and the ability to imagine oneself in another person's place. The basis of nursing practice is empathy which is the main thing to be able to understand the needs, feelings and problems that clients experience. Objective: To describe nurses' perceptions of the level of empathy nurses when conducting clinical practice in the Sukoharjo district health center. Research methods: This research is a quantitative study with a descriptive design. Sampling in this study using purposive sampling. The sample was 33 nurses who worked in the Sukoharjo district health center and interacted with nurses. Measurement instruments using Empathy Scale. Results: The results showed that female empathy scores (mean 78.8, SD 8.89) were higher than male empathy (mean 74.5, SD 5.51). Based on age with a good category at age 22 years (mean 79.0 SD 1,870), age 23 years (mean 79.4 SD 2.794) age 24 years (mean 80.5 SD 2.406). Medium category with age 22 years (mean 57.5 SD 1,914) age 23 years (mean 59.0 SD 2,880) age 24 years (mean 80.5 SD 2,406). The average value of empathy in general most students belong to the category (good 92%, and moderate 8%) Conclusion: The level of empathy in nurses as a whole is in the good and moderate category.
