Abstract

This study aims to describe: (1) Application of scout extracurricular in strengthening the character of discipline. (2) Application of scout extracurricular in strengthening independent character. (3) Obstacles to the application of scout extracurricular activities in strengthening the character of discipline and independence. (4) Solutions to overcome obstacles in the application of scout extracurricular activities in strengthening the discipline and independent character. This type of research is qualitative research. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The data validity technique uses source and technique triangulation. The results showed that: (1) The application of scout extracurricular activities in strengthening the character of the discipline was going well. This can be seen from students' daily use of complete attributes and arrive on time. (2) The application of scout extracurricular activities in strengthening independent character has been going well. This can be seen from the independent attendance, the arrival of students with friends. (3) Obstacles experienced are student awareness, parental awareness, and behavior in accordance with school rules. (4) The solution given is giving sanctions to every violation, implementing strict rules, giving direction to students as well as parents.
