Abstract
Mathematics is one of the important fields of study in the world of education and everyday life. One of the goals of mathematics learning is to equip students with the ability to think creatively. There is a difference in the ability to think creatively in students with high socioeconomic, students with moderate socioeconomic, and students with low socioeconomic. This study aims to: 1) examine the differences in the ability to think creatively in solving HOTS-based mathematical problems in terms of the parents 'socio-economic and 2) describe students' creative thinking abilities in solving HOTS-based math problems in aspects of fluency, flexibility, and originality. This type of research mix methods, conducted in class VIII A and VIIIB SMP Negeri 3 Teras Boyolali. Data collection techniques using questionnaires, tests, interviews, and documentation. Data validity by technique triangulation. Data analysis techniques with one way anava and qualitative data flow models. The results of the study: 1) there are differences in abilities between students with high socioeconomic conditions, students with moderate socioeconomic conditions, and students with low socioeconomic conditions in solving HOTS-based math problems 2) students with high ability can achieve aspects of fluency, flexibility, and originality well, students with socioeconomic conditions have better creative thinking abilities. Students with high socioeconomic conditions meet the creative thinking aspects of 15.3%, students with moderate socioeconomic conditions at 15.6%, while students with low socioeconomic conditions are only 13.3%.
