Abstract
This study aims to improve understanding of mathematical concepts through cooperative learning model jigsaw in class VII B SMP IT Darussalam Tanon, Sragen. This study is classroom action research conducted in collaboration between researchers and teachers of mathematics. Data collection techniques in this study using the test and field notes and documentation. Data analysis techniques used in this study is qualitative data analysis techniques. The results showed that the understanding of math concepts on the subject of fractional arithmetic operations in class VII B SMP IT Darussalam Tanon, Sragen has increased after the implementation of cooperative learning model jigsaw. These results indicated by an increase in the percentage of students' understanding of math concepts at each cycle. An increase of 31 students can be seen from the following data: 1) students who are able to restate a concept before the measure as many as 10 students (31.25%), in the first cycle were 12 students (39%), the second cycle as many as 19 students (61%), 2) students who are able to apply or to apply the concept in solving math problems before action by 8 students (25%), in the first cycle a total of 18 students (58%), the second cycle were 21 students (68%),
