Abstract

The objectives of this study are (1) To increase the self-confidence of SD Negeri Mijen class II A and II B students in learning mathematics through the use of Snake and Ladder media, (2) To analyze the use of media Snake and Ladder in Mathematics learning to increase students' confidence in class II A and II B SD Negeri Mijen. This type of research uses a quasi-experimental approach (quasi-experimental), this study uses a research design The Randomized Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. In this design there are two groups randomly selected, namely the experimental group and the control group. In the experimental group treatment was given (special treatment) in the form of learning using an open-ended approach. While in the control group, researchers conducted a learning process using conventional learning. Then the two groups were given a pretest to find out the initial situation was there a difference between the experimental group and the control group. The results showed that: there were significant differences between the mean of the control class (Xk) and the mean of the experimental class (Xe). Xk in the final condition is 67.5 and Xe in the higher end condition is 75.2 .. Xk in the final condition is 10.9 and Xe in the final condition is higher at 13.8. So that it can be concluded: 1) Snake and Ladder media is effective to increase the confidence of class II SD Negeri Mijen students in mathematics learning. 2) There are differences in self-confidence between students who get mathematics learning treatment with Snake and Ladder media (Snakes and Ladders) with students who are not treated with learning media Snake and Ladder (Snakes and Ladders) in class II SD Negeri Mijen students. 3) There is the influence of using Snake and Ladder media on Class II students of SD Negeri Mijen.
