Abstract
The principal is the school leader, the progress of a school depends on it. The principal has so many tasks that the school can move forward. One of the efforts made is to maintain quality and continue to improve it. The real quality that a school has is a teacher, without a professional teacher the school will have difficulty having an achievement. Therefore, the principal's implementation in increasing his professionalism is through academic supervision. Academic supervision conducted by the principal is expected to be able to help and develop the professionalism of the existing teachers. When viewed from its orientation supervision is divided into 3 types, namely: academic supervision, administrative supervision and agency supervision. The Directorate General of Quality Improvement of Education and Education Personnel (PMPTK) explains that academic supervision is a coaching activity by providing technical assistance to teachers in implementing the learning process, which aims to improve the professional abilities of teachers and enhance learning. Without the implementation of academic supervision, teachers of Islamic religious education will feel bored in undergoing their profession. Boredom comes because in carrying out a series of professional tasks experiencing the same conditions over and over again so that teacher professionalism decreases and tends not to be directed. The problem examined in this study is how the implementation of supervision of school principals as an effort to improve the professionalism of PAI teachers in SMA Negeri 1 Surakarta and whether the supervision carried out by school principals can increase the professionalism of PAI teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Surakarta. The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of supervision of school principals in an effort to improve the professionalism of teachers in SMA Negeri 1 Surakarta and to describe the implementation of supervision by principals to improve the professionalism of PAI teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Surakarta. This research is a field research using a type of qualitative research. The methods used are interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of this study can be concluded that the implementation of the supervision program begins with the planning, implementation, evaluation of supervision results and follow-up. The increase in teacher professionalism can be known from changes in pedagogical competence, personality, professionalism, and social teacher. Supervision uses a collaborative approach. The techniques used are individual techniques and group techniques. The supervision model applied is the scientific supervision model.
