Abstract

In this days age school institutions are faced with the challenge of educating their students not only to become outstanding students but are expected to be modeled and virtuous students. Damage to morals, behavior, and lack of religious knowledge makes students act as they wish. With the program of fostering Islamic character of students, training students' personalities to become better human beings and to have Islamic attitudes. The purpose of this study is to describe the Islamic character founding program for students in SMP Birrul Walidain Muhammadiyah Sragen. This type of research is a type of field research whose object in SMP Birrul Walidain Muhammadiyah Sragen using a qualitative approach is phenomenal. Data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation in the school. The analysis of this research uses the deductive method that starts from the theory and ends with the phenomenon. The results of this study are through planning, implementing, and evaluating, Islamic character building programs can make students educated and maintained their attitude. It can be seen from the students' attitudes towards educators, towards discipline, and towards relationships. Students react well and are consistent with the rules that have been made. The attitude of students towards educators is found when students pass both teachers and parents with respect and submission. Also seen students pay great attention to the teacher when teaching. Then the student's attitude toward discipline can be known through observing that honesty is the most important point when there are examinations and questions of daily worship with evidence of a contact book. While students' attitudes toward relationships were not found to be discriminatory and fighting among peers. Then the factors that support the implementation of Islamic character building programs are collaboration between teachers, parents, and community leaders. While the factors that hamper the implementation of Islamic character founding programs for students are the teacher's response about their consistency and commitment in carrying out their respective assignments. Thus, the results of this study answer in accordance with the formulation of the existing problem.
