Abstract
This study aims to identify the techniques used by the tutors to teach public speaking at As-Salam Islamic Boarding School and the problems faced by the teacher in teaching public speaking. The type of this research is qualitative research. Data collection was done interviewing the mentor of Public Speaking in As-Salam Islamic Boarding School. To analyze the data, the researcher took the procedures, namely collecting the data, Organizing and preparing the data, Coding and preparing the data, Classifying and categorizing the data, Connecting and relating the data, and providing the meaning and make conclusion of the research. The finding shows that the techniques used by the mentor are group discussion, memorizing vocabulary, and perform the public speaking. And the problem face by the tutor in teaching public speaking are the influence of the number of audience, fear due to different generations. The conclusion of this research based on the research held at Assalam Boarding school is that fear of public speaking is a learned skill and can be overcome by practicing and rehearsing before presentations or speeches and people who experience public speaking anxiety can perform as well as those who have a good command over public speaking.
