Abstract

This study describes 1) teaching factory learning models at SMK Negeri 5 Surakarta, 2) the implementation of teaching factory learning models at SMK Negeri 5 Surakarta, 3) obstacles and ways to overcome the implementation of Teaching Factory learning models at SMK Negeri 5 Surakarta. Qualitative research with ethnographic design. Subjects of research are principals, vice principals in curriculum, head of automotive study programs and students. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. Learn the validity of the data by triangulating sources and methods. Data analysis techniques with interactive models. The results of this study indicate that, the preparation of the teaching factory learning model uses a duel system model or fieldwork practice. The implementation of the teaching factory model prepares graduates ready for work starting with preparing learning implementation plans (RPP) by the teacher in the form of soft files and submitting them to the curriculum. The teacher conditions the practice carried out by students and measures the skills they have, the facilities provided are used as well as possible and the time allocation used in accordance with the needs of each subject. The inhibiting factors and ways of overcoming the implementation of the teaching learning model are the lack of students capturing learning, the low confidence of the community to use services from students. How to overcome by evaluating learning with assessments that include aspects of values, attitudes, honesty, responsibility, as well as knowledge and skills.
