Character education is essentially a struggle for individuals to live up to their freedom in their relationships with others and their environment, so that they can increasingly establish themselves as unique and distinctive individuals, and have moral integrity that can be justified (Koesoema 2010: 162). Strengthening character education in the present era is an important thing to do considering the number of events that address the moral crisis among children, adolescents, and the elderly. Therefore, strengthening character education is very much needed to be carried out as early as possible starting from the family environment, school, and expanding into the community environment. One of the things that need to be given is character education is children with special needs, from the world of education, inclusion of strengthening character education in children with special needs can be formed. This is because the purpose of planting character in children with special needs is to build trust, independence and discipline in children so that children are able to carry out their own activities without the help of others even the community can accept their presence well. This research is aims to describe: School programs in instilling discipline and independent character, School implementation in instilling discipline and independence, school constraints in instilling discipline and independence, and school solutions in instilling discipline and self-character integrated in school culture at SD Al Firdaus Surakarta . This study uses a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were students, teachers, principals. Methods of collecting data using observation, interviews, and documentation. The data validity technique in this study uses source triangulation and technical triangulation. Data analysis uses interactive models with data collection processes, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results of this study are: 1) The school program used to cultivate disciplinary and independent characters in Al Firdaus Elementary School has been directed by applying the discipline of discipline and self-oriented religion, which in its implementation already looks very effective. 2) School implementation in the cultivation of disciplined and independent characters involving the three components in disciplined and independent character education is not the responsibility of a handful of people, but needs to involve other components such as parents, educators, religious institutions, and youth organizations. Each component that supports the success of disciplinary character education must cooperate with each other. 3) The main obstacle in cultivating discipline and independent character is communication and infrastructure where teachers are still difficult to communicate directly or collaborate directly with parents of students, the availability of infrastructure is vi still limited which makes the learning program for students limited. 4) For solutions to the problems that the school has given if the ABK violates the rules in the school, for communication between the teacher and parents, the school immediately conducts a home visit or student home visit for troubled ABK students and meets directly with parents of students , preparing connecting books as introductory communication between teachers and parents. The conclusions of this study are: 1) Implementation of planting disciplinary and independent characters in Sd Al Firdaus is religiously oriented, which in its implementation already looks very effective. In its implementation it is very unique and has its own distinctive characteristics in terms of planting, ie students are asked to do their own activities with the encouragement of the accompanying teacher so that ABK students can be disciplined and independent in religious and daily activities. 2) Preparation of disciplined and independent character education programs is carried out by involving teachers, parents, or students. This is considering that to support the success of the character education discipline program, it is necessary to intervene both from the school, parents, or the community. 3) The main obstacle in the cultivation of disciplinary and independent characters is communication and therapeutic tools and infrastructure for abk. 4) How to overcome the problem or obstacle regarding ABK students who have problems at school is usually done by giving a consequence if the ABK violates the rules that exist in the school and conducts a home visit or home visits for students with problematic ABK students. Suggestions for school principals should provide more complete and adequate therapeutic facilities so that the process of planting characters is not interrupted due to lack of demonstration skills and so on. For teachers, they should provide motivation and learning media in planting the right character, so that students don't feel interested in learning and can strengthen their character and can implement it into real life. For schools it is expected to be able to provide the necessary learning facilities and infrastructure so that character planting can take place optimally. Pendidikan karakter pada hakikatnya adalah sebuah perjuangan bagi setiap individu untuk menghayati kebebasannya dalam relasi mereka dengan orang lain dan lingkungannya, sehingga ia dapat semakin mengukuhkan dirinya sebagai pribadi yang unik dan khas, dan memiliki integritas moral yang dapat dipertanggung jawabkan (Koesoema 2010:162). Penguatan pendidikan karakter di era sekarang merupakan hal yang penting untuk dilakukan mengingat banyaknya peristiwa yang menujukan terjadinya krisis moral baik dikalangan anak-anak, remaja, maupun orang tua. Oleh karena itu, penguatan pendidikan karakter sangat diperlu dilaksanakan sedini mungkin dimulai dari lingkungan keluarga, sekolah, dan meluas ke dalam lingkungan masyarakat. Salah satu yang perlu diberikan nya pendidikan karakter adalah anak berkebutuhan khusus, dari dunia pendidikan inklusilah penguatan pendidikan karakter pada anak berkebutuhan khusus dapat terbentuk. Hal ini dikarenakan bahwa tujuan dari adanya penanaman karakter pada anak berkebutuhan khusus itu sendiri adalah untuk membangun kepercayaan, kemandirian dan kedisiplinan pada anak sehingga anak mampu melalukan kegiatan nya sendiri tanpa bantuan orang lain bahkan masyarakat pun dapat menerima kehadirannya dengan baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan: Program sekolah dalam menanamkan karakter disiplin dan mandiri, Pelaksanaan sekolah dalam menanamkan karakter disiplin dan mandiri, kendala sekolah dalam menanamkan karakter disiplin dan mandiri, dan solusi sekolah dalam menanamkan karakter disiplin dan mandiri terintegrasi budaya sekolah di SD Al Firdaus Surakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa, guru, kepala sekolah. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Teknik keabsahan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan triangulasi sumber dan triangulasi teknik. Analisis data menggunakan model interaktif dengan proses pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini adalah: 1) Program sekolah yang digunakan untuk penanaman karakter disiplin dan mandiri di SD Al Firdaus sudah terarah dengan menerapkan penanaman karakter disiplin dan mandiri berorientasi agama, dimana dalam pelaksanaannya sudah terlihat sangatlah efektif. 2) Pelaksanaan sekolah dalam penanaman karakter disiplin dan mandiri telah melibatkan ketiga komponen dalam pendidikan karakter disiplin dan mandiri bukanlah tanggung jawab segelintir orang saja, tetapi perlu melibatkan komponen lain seperti halnya orang tua, pendidik, institusi agama, organisasi kepemuda. Masing-masing viii komponen yang mendukung keberhasilan pendidikan karakter disiplin harus saling kerja sama. 3) Kendala utama dalam penanaman karakter disiplin dan mandiri adalah komunikasi dan sarana prasarana yang dimana guru masih sulit untuk berkomunikasi langsung atau melakukan kerjasama langsung dengan orang tua siswa, ketersediaan sarana prasarana yang masih terbatas yang membuat program pembelajaran pada siswa terbatasin. 4) Untuk solusi dalam mengatasi masalah yang ada sekolah memberi konsekuesi jika ABK melanggar peraturan yang ada disekolah, untuk komunikasi antara guru dan orang tua murid, sekolah langsung melakukan home visit atau kunjungan kerumah siswa bagi siswa ABK yang bermasalah dan bertemu langsung dengan orang tua murid, mempersiapan buku penghubung sebagai komunikasi pengantar antara guru dan orang tua. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah: 1) Penerapkan penanaman karakter disiplin dan mandiri yang ada di Sd Al Firdaus berorientasi agama, dimana dalam pelaksanaannya sudah terlihat sangatlah efektif. Dalam pelaksanaannya sangatlah unik dan memiliki ciri khas yang tersendiri dalam hal penanaman yaitu siswa abk diminta untuk melakukan kegiatan sendiri dengan dorongan guru pendamping sehingga siswa ABK dapat disiplin dan mandiri dalam kegiatan keagamaan dan sehari-harinya. 2) Penyusunan program pendidikan karakter disiplin dan mandiri dilakukan dengan melibatkan guru, orang tua, atau siswa. Hal ini mengingat bahwa untuk mendukung keberhasilan program pendidikan karakter disiplin perlu campur tangan baik dari pihak sekolah, orang tua, atau masyarakat. 3) Kendala utama dalam penanaman karakrter disiplin dan mandiri adalah komunikasi dan saranan dan prasarana terapi untuk abk. 4) Cara mengatasi masalah atau hambatan yang mengenai siswa ABK yang bermasalah disekolah biasanya dilakukan dengan memberi konsekuesi jika ABK tersebut melanggar peraturan yang ada disekolah dan melakukan home visit atau kunjungan kerumah siswa bagi siswa ABK yang bermasalah. Saran bagi kepala sekolah hendaknya memberikan fasilitas terapi yang lebih lengkap dan memadai agar proses penanaman karakter tidak terganggu karena kekurangan akat peraga dan sebagainya. Bagi guru hendaknya memberikan motivasi dan media pembelajaran dalam penanaman karakter yang tepat, sehingga siswa abk merasa tertarik untuk belajar dan dapat memperkuat karakter serta dapat mengimplementasikan ke dalam kehidupan nyata. Bagi sekolah diharapkan dapat menyediakan sarana dan prasaranan pembelajaran yang diperlukan sehingga penanaman karakter dapat berlangsung secara optimal.
