Abstract

The main task of the school is educating its participants. It means not only to make them smart and skilled, but also to be able to take their health into a healthy and spiritual person, aware of discipline and responsible for their existence as a person, a creature of creation Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, and as a social creature. The extracurricular activities proclaimed by the school aim to develop the students ' talents and interests in order to be well represented and to form a disciplined and responsible attitude. This research aims to determine the planning, implementation and evaluation of extracurricular activities in MTs Negeri Surakarta II. This research is a field study using qualitative descriptive methods. Data collection techniques used are by observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis using deductive analysis is departing from the foundation of the theory then adjusted to the data in the field. The results of the study concluded that the management of extracurricular activities to improve the discipline and responsibility of students at MTs in Surakarta II showed that; 1) The planning of extracurricular activities applied in accordance with the proven theory of the general objectives, description of each extracurricular activities, management, funding, and evaluation that is part of management functions Extracurricular, but the description of extracurricular activities is less applied. 2) The implementation of extracurricular activities to improve discipline and responsibility has been in accordance with the theory of scheduling activities, but need to increase the discipline of both the coach and the students. 3) The evaluation of extracurricular activities shows the outcome of achievement targets of each race event, but still need improvement in the input of the valuation so that not only formality.
