Abstract
Deafness is a condition of hearing organ dysfunction, it is indicated by the inability of individuals to capture information through the sense of hearing, namely the inability of mild levels to a very severe level or total deafness. In order to escape this problem, deaf people need the right coping strategies. The purpose of this study is to illustrate and describe coping strategies for deaf students in inclusive schools and special schools. The research method used is qualitative phenomenology which data was collected through interviews with 6 informants, informants were selected using purposive sampling technique with predetermined criteria. The results of the study indicate that the form of problems such as obstacles in language, especially in communication can cause other problems in deafness itself. The coping strategies used are of two forms, Emotion Focus Coping and Problem Focused Coping. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that each individual has different ways of dealing with the problem. Social support influences deaf coping strategies and make positive results such as self-confidence and achievement. With this, deaf students can still have achievements at school.
