Abstract

The research aims to describe the mistakes of male and female students in solving linear program story problems. This research was conducted in class X TKJ 1 of SMK N 1 Banyudono academic year 2018/2019. This type of research is qualitative research with samples taken, namely 6 students consisting of 3 male students and 3 female students. Data collection methods used in this study were tests, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques through reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of data analysis, it was concluded that female students made more mistakes in understanding the meaning of the question than male students. This means that female students are more difficult to understand the meaning of the problem. Whereas male students made more transformation errors and completion processes than female students. This means that male student errors predominate in operational errors and calculations. Factors that cause students to make mistakes are students do not understand the meaning of the questions given, students do not master the prerequisite materials, students do not understand the linear program material, students forget the basic formula and system concept equations and linear two-variable inequalities, students do not practice enough in preparing questions about linear programs, students are not careful in carrying out count operations, students do not check the answers that have been done.
