Abstract

Isna Karunia Tara / A310150215. USE OF THE SARKASM LANGUAGE STYLE IN STAND UP COMEDY. Indonesian Language Education, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta, June 2019. The purpose of this study is twofold.1) Describe the form of sarcasm language style in the Top 6. Stand Up Comedy Academy (SUCA) 4 competition. 2) Describe the meaning of sarcasm language style in Stand Up Comedy Academy (SUCA) 4 Top 6. The object of this research is sarcasm language style in Stand Up Comedy Academy (SUCA) 4 Top 6 competition on Indosiar. The data collection technique in this study used qualitative methods, because in analyzing data in the form of sarcasm language in stand up comedy, the authors analyzed the data by referring to the advanced technique of recording and recording techniques. Based on the results of the data analysis it can be concluded to be two. 1) The form of sarcasm language style in the Stand Up Comedy Academy (SUCA) competition 4 Top 6 found 38 different forms of sarcasm language styles. The language style of sarcasm which amounts to 38 is divided into two forms, namely, direct form as many as 27 and indirect forms as much as 11. Comic that uses the sarcasm language style is Oki, Didi, Boah, Ebel, Mega, Ebi. 2) The meaning of mockery and meaning of cursing are found in the style of sarcasm in the Stand Up Comedy Academy (SUCA) 4 Top 6 competition on Indosiar namely; as a whole the language style of sarcasm does not make people offended, hurt even angry people who are targeted at every conversation who use the language style sarcasm. But it functions as humor that is equipped with mimicking and proper body language in packaging it as entertainment to describe the message in question, where taunts, sarcasm and catastrophic words spoken are not then used as a means of inviting hostility or anger but in SUCA 4 it is displayed as part of humor activities as a reinforcement of the material delivered.
