Abstract
Background : Bell's palsy is a peripheral weakness in the facial muscles, acute, ipsilateral, associated with facial nerve paralysis with unknown causes. There are five etiological theories of Bell's Palsy's etiology, but the theory of viruses, namely reactivation of latent viral herpes infections in the ganglion geniculatum that spread to the facial nerve, is the most discussed theory being the main cause. A good understanding of facial nerve anatomy and the establishment of early diagnosis and appropriate management are the keys to success in healing and preventing complications due to Bell's palsy. Purpose : To find out the effect of Electrical Stimulation and the PNF Method on the Problems of patients with Bell's Palsy Dextra condition can improve the weakness of the right side facial muscles, and can improve function involving facial muscles. Result : After therapy for 3 times for the level of pain with VAS. On tenderness decreased from T1-T3 obtained results of pain assessment at T1 = 4, and T3 = 2. For silent pain at T1 = 1, and T3 = 0, for motion pain decreased from T1 = 3 to T3 = 1. To measure facial muscle strength with MMT the results obtained at m.orbiculari oculi experienced an increase in facial muscle strength from T1 = 3, T3 = 5, and for ugo fish T1 = in degree IV, T3 = degree III which means that there has been functional improvement facial motor. Conclusion : The management of physiotherapy using the Electrical Stimulation (ES) and PNF methods is expected to prevent increased muscle weakness, but there has not been a significant change in the strength of facial muscles, Facial muscle MMT, and motoric motion on the face for daily functional activities
