Abstract
This study aimed to describe errors of field dependence (FD) students and the factors in solving word problems in the material of One Variable Linear Equations. This was qualitative research. The subjects were three FD students. Data collection was done by test, interview and documentation. Data analysis were carried out by reduction, presentation and drawing conclusions. Based on the analysis, students made errors in understanding the problems, transformation, process skill and encoding. The causes of the errors were lack of accuracy in reading questions, in a hurry, lack of reading what was asked in the questions and not completing the answer that influences to the next step.
