Abstract

Swing circle is an undercarriage parts excavator that serves to support the upperstructure and continue the rotation of swing machinery through the pinion shaft to produce swing movements on the excavator. The purpose of this research is to find out the damage that occurs in the swing system excavator and the repair steps. The procedure in this study includes a visual examination of the components that work on the swing system, performance when doing work (swing), to disassembly the damaged components. Furthermore, an analysis is carried out using a fishbone diagram to analyze the causes of damage that occurs in the swing system. The results of the analysis of the causes of damage to the swing system have the main factor, namely, bad lubrication in the form of using less grease and contaminated grease conditions. Another factor is also caused by operator or mechanical errors in improper operation of tools and maintenance. The corrective step is to replace the swing circle component. Preventive steps taken so that swing circle has a long live time is to do a daily check thoroughly before the unit operates and preventive maintenance on a regular basis.
