Abstract

This study aims to describe (1) the type of imperative speech used in communication between sellers and buyers in Jungke Market, Karanganyar Regency. (2) The imperative modesty contained in communication between sellers and buyers in Jungke Market, Karanganyar Regency. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods. The data in this study include words, phrases, clauses and sentences and discourses that contain imperative politeness in communication between sellers and buyers in the Jungke market in Karanganyar district. The source of data in this study is speech in communication between sellers and buyers at Jungke market in Karanganyar district. The data collection technique used in this study is field technique. The data validation technique in this study uses data triangulation techniques. The data analysis technique in this study uses qualitative methods. The results and discussion of this study are (1) The type of imperative utterances used in communication between sellers and buyers in Jungke Market, Karanganyar Regency can be grouped into 11 types. (2) There are two kinds of imperative politeness in the communication between sellers and buyers in Jungke Market, Karanganyar Regency, namely declarative speech and interogative speech.
