Abstract

This research is motivated by efforts to improve the quality of education in Indonesia, one aspect that affects the quality of mathematics education is the climate of mathematics learning. Learning climate that is less effective in the process of learning mathematics can cause the quality of mathematics learning to be low. The purpose of this study is to describe the climate of mathematics learning in the Special Program (PK) class at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta. The results showed that: (1) students' mathematics learning behavior showed that students were very enthusiastic when mathematics learning took place, but there were some students who were still shy to progress. Enthusiastic learning of mathematics shown by students will be appreciated by the teacher, appreciation can be in the form of additional value or prizes. The learning habits of the Special Program (PK) class are the use of quarto books, teaching aids, and power points to support mathematics lessons, the sources of mathematics teaching materials used are sourced from textbooks, student worksheets, and other relevant sources (2) social interaction between mathematics teachers with students very well interwoven both in class when mathematics learning takes place or outside the classroom (3) social interaction between students during the learning process of mathematics takes place in a conducive and controlled manner, togetherness and cooperation between students in carrying out tasks running smoothly (4) facilities provided in the complete Special Program (PK) class, public facilities at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta are also very adequate and support learning.
