Abstract

This research was qualitative research by using descriptive approach, which was aimed to describe students’ difficulty in solving questions about linier equation in two variable (SPLDV) based on each types of adversity quotient. Subjects of this research were five students of class X TB SMK Muhammadiyah Kartasura who were selected based on types of adversity quotient (climbers, campers, and quitters). The data of this research were collected from the result of test and interview. Data credibility of this research was checked by using method triangulation and member check. The collacted data were analysed through three phases which were data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The result of this research show that climbers students has difficulties in understanding the problems. Beside that, the question was presented contained fraction, climber students faced difficulties in formulating mathematical model and processing of the solution. The campers students got difficulties in understanding the problems, formulating mathematical model, and processing of the solution. Quitters students faced all categories of difficulties in process of solving the problems. However, in understanding the problem, one of quitters students did not meet difficulties if the problem was simple.
