Abstract
Relations is a necessity which if that it’s fulfilled it will make negative effect, such as depression, anxiety and loneliness. However, when the need of relations is fulfilled, people will be happy. This research has purposed to know effectiveness of psychodrama intervention to improve friendship relations of junior high school students. This experimental research used quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design. The subject of sample is 28 students who has low and medium friendship relations scores. Subject is grouping with random assigment which is divided into 2 groups, that are 13 experimental group students and 15 control group students. Psychodrama intervention is given for one day with 4 sessions which included opening & introductions, warming up, action, reflection and sharing. Data collection in this research used friendship relations scale (α = 0.834). Analysis data used Mann Whitney U Test and Wilcoxon T Test. Hypothesis test results obtained by Z score = -2.421 and Sig (2 tailed) of 0.015; p <0.05, the results showed the significant deferences of friendship relations between the experimental group and the control group after doing psychodrama intervention. It means psychodrama is effective to improve friendship relations of junior high school students. The factors that supported psychodrama in friendship relations improvement is spontaneity in acting agree with the direction of the facilitator and friend factors in the psychodrama group that support one another. The most effective session in friendship relations improvement is the warming up session. In the warming up stage there are four out of five aspects of friendship relations that are processed, so participants can blend in with other participants and work together to do something agree with the facilitator direction. Besides that, there is psychodrama roleplay with the result that all participants can directly express the character that they are playing until that participants are trained and able to feel what anothers feel, can motivated themselves and other to be better.
