Abstract

Optimism needs to be owned by married couples who have not been blessed with children to have enthusiasm and hope for a better future. The purpose of this study is to understand and describe the future optimism that is owned by a married couple who have not been blessed with children. This study uses a phenomenological qualitative approach. Informants numbered 4 married couples. The method of collecting data in this study was interviews. The results showed that all informants had a sense of optimism about the future. At the beginning of the marriage, all informants were optimistic that after marriage they would have offspring based on hereditary history and / or the results of tests carried out before carrying out the marriage. All informants still think positively that everything that happens in life is a destiny that has been determined by Allah SWT. The absence of children is considered as a temporary thing and is optimistic that one day they can have offspring while making several attempts to obtain offspring. The factors that influence informants have an optimistic feeling is the support from their spouse and family and their self-confidence that they can have children at some time.
