Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine and analyze: (1) the differences effect of applying PBL and Mind Mapping learning models on mathematics learning outcomes, (2) the differences effect of problem solving skills on mathematics learning outcomes, (3) the effect of interaction between learning models and problems solving skills students' with the results of mathematics learning. This study is a quantitative research with quasi-experimental design. The population of this study is all eighth grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Surakarta. Two classes were chosen for the sampel of this study by Cluster Random Sampling. The experimental class was treared using model PBL and the control class using model Mind Mapping. The data collection was conducted using tests and documentation. The data was analized using different number off cell analysis of variance with 5%. The conclusions of this study are: (1) there is a different effect on application of learning models on student learning outcomes seen from two different learning applications (PBL and Mind Mapping), PBL approaches provide mathematical learning outcomes that are better than the application of Mind Mapping models, (2) there are differences in the influence of the level of problem solving skills on mathematics learning outcomes, students with high problem solving skills provide better mathematics learning outcomes than students with moderate or low level skills, and students with moderate problem solving skills are better than low-skilled students, (3) there is no interaction between the application of the learning model and problem solving skills to student learning outcomes.
