Abstract

Swing gear reduction is one of the components of the excavator that serves to reduce the rotation of the hydraulic motor to increase torque at the output. This study aims to analyze the damage, causes of damage, and corrective steps in the swing gear reduction when damage occurs. Inspection procedures performed on swing gear reduction include visual inspection, performance when doing work (swing), until the swing gear reduction component is disassembled. Then analyzed using fishbone diagram to analyze the causes of swing gear reduction system damage. Damage analysis results show that the cause of damage is a reduction in oil in the swing gear reduction. The sun gear on the second planetary gear has been damaged so that the corrective step taken is in the form of a swing gear reduction assy. Preventive measures taken so that the swing gear reduction has a long live time is to do a daily check thoroughly before the unit operates and preventive maintenance periodically.
