Abstract
Children aged 10-18 years are one of the groups vulnerable toexperience nutritional problems. One factor that directly affects nutritional status is food intake. Nutrients consumed adequately will achieve optimal nutritional status so that the growth and development of children are getting better. Orphanage is a social organization that is thought to have a great influence on the fulfillment of nutrition and ultimately has an impact on the nutritional status of children in the orphanage. Objective: The study aims to find out the relationship between adequacy of energy and protein with nutritional status of orphans in Keluarga Yatim Muhammadiyah Surakarta. Method: This type of research is an observational research using a cross sectional approach. The subjects in this study amounted to 47 children. Adequacy of energy and protein was obtained by using 24-hour recall form, nutritional status was obtained by doing anthropometric measurements, namely body weight and height. The analyzing the data is using Pearson Product Moment Correlation test. Results: The average energy adequacy of respondents was classified as moderate at 90.5%. The average protein adequacy of respondents was moderate, namely 91.2%. Respondents who had normal nutritional status were (83%), thin (10.6%), obese (4.3%), obesity (2.1%). Adequacy of energy with nutritional status according to BMI / U (p = 0,000, r = 0,754). Adequacy of protein with nutritional status according to BMI / U (p = 0,000, r = 0,763). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between energy adequacy and nutritional status in children. There is a relationship between protein adequacy and nutritional status in children. It is necessary to regulate food intake which refers to a balanced menu to achieve optimal nutritional status. This is intended to provide nutritious food to reduce the risk of nutritional problems.
