Abstract
Casting is the process of melting metal by melting then poured into the mold and allowed to freeze. In casting sand casting material selection mold is very important to produce the product with the nature and character we want. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of variations in printed materials against chemical composition, hardness value, shrinkage, porosity, microstructure, permeability, and grain shape. This research uses used aluminum remelting inside kitchen smelting, variation of mold used there are 3 that is mold of red sand, sandstone molds, and mixed sand molds (50:50). The data analysis shows that the percentage value of depreciation for variation the red sand mold is 2.39%, and for the variation of the mold of sand of honey as big as 1.85%, while for mixed sand mold variation 2.07%. Results depreciation studies show that red sand molds have value the highest shrinkage and for the lowest shrinkage is sand mold and for mixed sand molds between them. Test result Portable Hardness Vickers are available for variations of red sand prints 91,78 VHN, 78.29 VHN sand mold, and mixed sand mold 85.35VHN, and for the test results of chemical composition there are several intermediate elements other (Al) 84.80%, (Si) 12.4%, (Fe) 1.66%, (Zn) 0.429%, and (Mn) 0.243%.
