Abstract
This study aims to improve the learning activity of class XI 3 Social Sciences students at SMAN 1 Andong in the academic year 2017/2018 on economic subjects through the Discovery Learning method.This type of research is classroom action research for two cycles. The subject of the study was the teacher (the actor) and the students of class X Social Sciences 3 in SMAN 1 Andong (the recipient of the action). Data collection techniques used include interviews, observation, tests, field notes, and documentation. To ensure the validity of the data, triangulation (methods and data sources) is used. Data analysis techniques use data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing.The results showed an increase in student learning activeness, namely students who showed a very active attitude of 0 students before action, 6 students in cycle 1, and 14 students in cycle 2, students with active attitudes of 11 students before action, 17 students in cycle 1, and 19 students in cycle 2, the attitude of students who showed quite active attitude of 20 students before action, 13 students in cycle 1, and 5 students in cycle 2, and students who showed less active attitude of 7 students before the action, 2 students in the cycle 1, and 0 students in cycle 2. Based on the results of the study that Discovery Learninglearning method is able to improve the learning activity of students in economics class XI 3 Social Sciences in SMAN 1 Andong academic year 2017/2018.
