Abstract

This study aims to describe (1) the sociohistorical setting of Habiburrahman El Shirazy, (2) the elements that build the novel Ayat-Ayat Cinta 2 by Habiburrahman El Shirazy, (3) the inner conflict of the main character contained in the novel Ayat-Ayat Cinta 2 by Habiburrahman El Shirazy, (4) its relevance as an Indonesian language teaching material in high school. This study uses a qualitative method. The data in this study are in the form of words, sentences, and paragraphs and events containing information about the inner conflict of the main character in the novel by Ayat-Ayat Cinta 2 Habiburrahman El Shirazy. The source of the data in this study is a novel by Ayat-Ayat Cinta 2 Habiburrahman El Shirazy. Data collection techniques in this study use libraries, see, and note. Data analysis techniques in this study using semiotic reading model method namely heuristic and hermeneutic readings. The results and discussion are (1) sociohistorical setting of the author of the Ayat-Ayat Cinta 2 novel Habiburahman El Shirazy namely he was born on September 30, 1976 in Semarang, Central Java, (2) the structure of the Ayat-Ayat Cinta 2 novel by Habiburrahman El Shirazy raises a blend of themes from religion, love and culture. The flow in the novel uses an advanced plot. The characters involved were Fahri as the main character, Sabina, Uncle Halusi, Grandma Catarina, and Keira as additional figures. The setting of the place in the novel includes, Stoneyhill Grove, House of Fahri, House of Grandma Catarina, The University of Endiburgh and Oxford. The timeline was told in 2008. The atmosphere is winter and fall, (3) the inner conflict contained in the novel by Ayat-Ayat Cinta 2 Habiburrahman El Shirazy which includes, (a) Conflict approaches (Fahri confuses between accepting or rejecting Shaykh Ustman's grandson), (b) Conflict approaches (Fahri feels sad when given his wife's will), (c) Conflict moves away (Fahri feels his love for Hulya not growing), (4) relevance of the results of the inner conflict research of the main character in the Ayat-Ayat cinta novel 2 Habiburrahman El Shirazy as a literary teaching material in class XII high school with KD 3.9 and KI 3 because it corresponds to the criteria of teaching materials namely language, psychology, and cultural setting.
