Abstract
This study aimed to describe the efforts of teachers to overcome the mathematical difficulties experienced by students in the area and perimeter material Elementary School fourth grade at Soko 2. The subjects were three fourth grade students who have difficulty learning mathematics Flat area and perimeter and classroom teacher. Collecting data using the techniques of interview, observation and documentation. Analysis using Interactive Analysis Model. On the validity of the data the researchers used a technique of triangulation. Results showed students learning difficulties, on the subject area and perimeter of flat wake. Math difficulties in the area and perimeter plane experienced by students that have difficulty determining the formula, the faults understand about the story, fallacy use place value, counting errors in a flat area and perimeter wake. The efforts of teachers in overcoming the difficulties of learning mathematics area and perimeter Flat by giving special attention to students, tutoring such as mathematical symbols, the value of the place, the concept of area and perimeter plane, formula for the area and perimeter plane, learning remedial, motivate learning in students.
