Abstract

This study aims to determine differences in the level of loneliness of the elderly based on marital status and sex in the Gonilan sub-district of Surakarta. There are two proposed hypotheses, namely, 1) There is a difference in loneliness in the elderly based on the marital status category. 2) There are differences in loneliness in the elderly based on gender categories. Data collection method uses a quantitative approach with a measuring instrument in the form of a lonely scale. Quota Sampling technique was used for sampling in this study, the subjects of the study were 150 elderly (58 men and 92 women) aged ≥60 years. While the data analysis was carried out with Kruskal-Wallis Test, and Mann-Whitney Test. The results showed: 1) there was a very significant difference in loneliness in the elderly based on marital status, 2) there was no difference in loneliness in the elderly when viewed by sex.
