Abstract

This study aims to describe the improvement of learning achievement through the application of Inquiry learning methods in the Economics subjects of Class XI Students of Muhammadiyah 3 Surakarta High School 2018/2019 school year. The type of research used in this study is Classroom Action Research. The subjects of this study were teachers of Economics subjects and students of class XI IPS 1 of SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Surakarta. Data and data sources are obtained through informants, places or locations, events and archives or documents. The object of research is the problem that will be studied, namely an increase in learning achievement through the application of the method of inquiry learning in the economic subjects of class XI IPS 1 students of SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Surakarta in 2018/2019 academic year. Data collection techniques in this study include observation, documentation, and tests. Data analysis techniques used in this study are comparative descriptive analysis techniques and critical techniques. The results showed that the average student learning achievement was 61.42%. After applying the Inquiry Learning method in the first cycle, it increased by 10.37%, from 61.42% to 71.79%. Similarly, in the second cycle also experienced an increase of 10.21%, from 71.79% to 82%. Although the increase is not too much, but the results obtained in the second cycle have exceeded the specified standard of 75%. Based on the description, it can be concluded that the application of Inquiry Learning method can improve the economic learning achievement of class XI IPS 1 students of SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Surakarta in 2018/2019 academic year.
