Abstract
Bp. Rajiman SME furniture is the one of furniture industry in Juwiring, Klaten, Central Java. Production process own furniture include the process of measurement, pattern drawing, cutting, merging components and so on. The cutting process is done using cross cut conventional machine. Cross cut conventional machine in Bp. Rajiman SME takes a relatively long time when used for the cutting process it’s about ± 3 minutes. The procurement of new cross cut machine costs relatively high so the solution offered is to modify the existing cross cut machine using method benchmarking. Stages of benchmarking start by doing a search of similar products, then perform a function and work system analysis in order to know the advantages and disadvantages of each product to be in the benchmark. The next process is to compare the cutting process and the final step is to make the design based on the concept of benchmarking. The results show that the table cross cut new has better flexibility when compared with the existing cross cut machine with the widening of the work table. The presence of a stopper makes the new cross cut table capable of cutting objects more precisely and can be adjusted to the workpiece and obtained better results with a cut speed of 27.4 m / s and cutting time for ± 2 minutes.
