Abstract

The objectives of the study were two. (1) To know the variety of firnality and Diglosia speech in daily language of the society of Tegalsari, Karangjati, Kalijambe Sragen from sociolinguistic point of view. (2) To know the implementation of speech in bahasa Indonesia subject of senior high school. The study used qualitative approach. The data of the study were speeches in conversation relating to diglosia in the society of Tegalsari, Karangjati, Kalijambe Sragen.The data source in the study was the society of Tegalsari, Karangjati, Kalijambe Sragen. The technique of collecting data were, 1) observing events os speech in the society of Tegalsari, Karangjati, Kalijambe Sragen, 2) transrcripting the conversation listened into written language, 3) identifying speech referring to diglosia, 4) coding the data collected, 5) clarifying data indicating diglosia based on sociolinguistic study. The technique of data analysis in the study used direct element sharing. The study was variety of formality of diglosia speech in daily language in the society of Tegalsari, Karangjati, Kalijambe Sragen consisting of Diglosia T (high) and Diglosia R (low). The use of Diglosia T in the society of Tegalsari, Karangjati, Kalijambe, Sragenwas formal language used in formal event such as youth organization of Karang Taruna meeting, the other formal event and speech happened between children and adult.
