Abstract
Abstract This research describes: 1) The structure of Gunung Pegat folklore in Wonogiri, 2) The response of the people to the Gunung Pegat folklore in Wonogiri, 3) The relevance of the research result as a literary teaching material in the school. The data used in the study are paragraphs obtained from documentary data sources and informants, for documents in the form of folklore text. Data collection techniques used in this study are observation techniques, refer to, and record. The results of this research are 1) The structure in folklore there is one that is not fulfilled because the story is not contained, 2) varied community responses related to the story of the people of Gunung Pegat among others there are those who believe in the folklore and there are those who do not believe in the story. For people who believe in the story there are some sources one of them people believe with the story because many people have experienced the failure of romance and for those who do not believe there are several factors between people never experienced such events that circulate in the community so that people do not believe in 3) Its relevance to teaching materials, in this research is considered to be appropriate or relevant to the teaching materials because it meets the criteria of teaching materials that researchers use.
